Sweet Melon Planting and harvesting

Harvesting watermelons involves waiting until the fruit reaches full maturity, which is typically 70 to 90 days after planting, depending on the variety. You’ll know it's time to harvest when the melon’s skin changes to a deep, vibrant color (usually green to yellow, depending on the type), and the tendril closest to the fruit turns brown and dry. The watermelon should sound hollow when tapped, and there may be a dull spot on the bottom where it has been resting on the ground. To harvest, use a sharp knife or garden shears to cut the melon from the vine, leaving about 2 inches of stem attached. Handle the melons carefully to avoid bruising or cutting them
